Choosing and buying
Which telescope is best for a beginner?
For most beginners in India we point to a 114mm–130mm reflector in the ₹18,000–₹30,000 range. That is where a telescope shows lunar detail, Jupiter's cloud belts, Saturn's rings and the brighter deep-sky objects, on a mount steady enough not to frustrate you. If you want zero maintenance, a 90mm refractor on an alt-azimuth mount is the alternative.
How much should I spend on my first telescope?
₹18,000 to ₹30,000 is where price and capability meet sensibly here. Spending less usually buys a weaker mount rather than weaker optics, and an unsteady mount is the most common reason a first telescope stops being used. Our range runs from ₹12,000 to ₹1,70,000.
Do you sell telescopes under ₹10,000?
No. In that bracket the mounts are too unsteady for the magnifications astronomy needs, and the non-standard eyepiece fittings prevent any upgrade later. We would rather point you to a pair of 10x50 binoculars, which at the same price is a genuinely better astronomical instrument.
Should I choose a refractor or a reflector?
A refractor if you want zero maintenance and mainly observe the Moon and planets — sealed optics, nothing to collimate, ready in a minute. A reflector if you want the most aperture your money can buy and you do not mind learning collimation, which takes about ten minutes to learn. Neither is objectively better; they optimise for different things.
What aperture should I choose?
Aperture sets the ceiling on what you can see. 90–100mm covers the Moon, planets and bright clusters well. 130mm is where deep-sky objects start showing structure rather than merely being detectable. 150mm and above is for serious deep-sky work. Beyond that, the practical limit is what you will actually carry outside.
Is a GoTo telescope worth it?
It is worth more in India than in most places, because urban light pollution removes the guide stars that manual star-hopping needs. From a city with limited observing time, GoTo turns a frustrating hour into a productive one. From a darker site, the same money buys considerably more aperture, which will show you more.
What you can see
Can I see Saturn's rings?
Yes. Every telescope we sell separates Saturn's rings from the planet's disc — even the 70mm shows them clearly at around 60x. Larger apertures add the Cassini Division within the rings, the shadow of the globe falling on them, and faint cloud banding, which start becoming visible from about 100mm on a steady night.
Can I see Jupiter and its moons?
Yes, easily. Any telescope shows Jupiter's four Galilean moons as points of light that visibly change position from night to night. From about 100mm you will see two cloud belts, and the Great Red Spot when it is facing us — it is only on the visible side for part of Jupiter's ten-hour rotation.
Can I see galaxies from a city?
A few of the brightest, as faint smudges, with effort. Light pollution raises the sky background so that low-contrast objects vanish into it, and a bigger telescope brightens the object and the glow together. A drive to darker skies will show you more galaxies through a small telescope than a large telescope will from a city centre.
Why do nebulae and galaxies look grey rather than colourful?
Because they are too faint to activate the colour-sensing cells in your eye, so you see them with rod cells, which are colourblind. Astrophotographs accumulate light over minutes or hours; your eye integrates over about a tenth of a second. The grey view is real, and with practice it shows a great deal of structure.
Can I do astrophotography with these telescopes?
Lunar and planetary imaging, yes — including through a smartphone adapter, and properly with a planetary camera on a tracking mount. Long-exposure deep-sky imaging of nebulae and galaxies needs a precision equatorial mount with autoguiding, which we do not currently stock. We would rather say so than sell you the wrong thing.
Is a telescope suitable for a child?
From around eight to ten years old with an adult setting it up, and from roughly ten upwards for independent use of a simple alt-azimuth telescope. Below that, a good pair of 8x40 binoculars is a genuinely better first instrument — simpler, more robust, useful in daylight and needing no setup.

Do you ship across India?
Yes, we ship nationwide with free shipping. Telescopes go out in the manufacturer's packaging, which is designed to survive transit. If anything arrives damaged, photograph it before unpacking further and message us — we will handle the claim.
What support do I get after buying?
We walk you through assembly and your first observing session over WhatsApp. That is not an upsell — the first session is what determines whether a telescope keeps getting used, and most first-night problems are five-minute fixes if someone is on the other end of a message.
Can I ask questions before buying?
Yes, and we would prefer you did. We answer equipment questions from people who have not bought anything, including questions about telescopes we do not sell. If the honest answer is that you should not buy a telescope yet, we will say so.
Do you accept returns?
Contact us as soon as possible if something is wrong with your order and we will work it out with you. For manufacturing defects, the manufacturer's warranty applies and we will help you claim under it.
