Setup and first light
Every telescope we sell includes a guided setup over WhatsApp — assembly, finderscope alignment, eyepiece choice and a first target. This exists because the first session is what decides whether a telescope keeps getting used, and most first-night problems are trivial once someone tells you what to look at.
Common problems
Everything looks blurry and I cannot focus
Point at a distant object in daylight first and find focus there, so you know where the focuser travel is. At night, start with your lowest-power (largest number) eyepiece. If the image will not sharpen at any focus position, the telescope may not have reached ambient temperature — leave it outside for 20–30 minutes and try again.
I cannot find anything in the sky
Almost always an unaligned finderscope. Align it in daylight on a distant fixed object — a rooftop water tank works well — so that what is centred in the finder is centred in the eyepiece. Doing this once in daylight saves hours of frustration at night.
The image shakes whenever I touch the telescope
Check that all tripod bolts are tight and the legs are fully extended and locked. Set up on a hard surface rather than grass or sand. Some settling time after each adjustment is normal at high magnification — wait two or three seconds before judging the view.
The view is dim and blurred at high magnification
You are probably past the telescope's useful magnification, which is roughly twice the aperture in millimetres. Atmospheric conditions usually impose a lower limit still. Drop back to a longer eyepiece — the image will be brighter and show more detail.
My GoTo mount points at the wrong part of the sky
Re-run the star alignment, taking care to centre each alignment star precisely, and check that your entered date, time and location are correct. Weak batteries also cause erratic slewing — a rechargeable power pack is more reliable than internal cells.
There is condensation on the optics
That is dew, and it is common in Indian conditions. Never wipe it off — let it evaporate, or use a hairdryer on a cool setting held well back. A dew shield prevents most of it. Critically, let the telescope dry completely indoors before you cap and store it.
Warranty claims
Telescopes carry the manufacturer's warranty. If you believe you have a manufacturing defect rather than a setup issue, message us with photographs and a description of the problem and we will help you raise the claim. Please contact us before returning anything, so the item is not shipped without a reference.
